Vertical Solar Smart Pole VS Series Cylindrical Module IoT Infrastructure Production Process
From Components to Complete VS System
Configuration & Component Matching: Production starts from the confirmed project configuration. LED power, vertical PV capacity, LiFePO4 battery, MPPT controller, pole structure and optional functions are checked and matched before assembly to avoid configuration errors in customized or mixed-model orders.
Pole, PV & Electrical Assembly: The pole structure and solar mounting sections are prepared first, followed by installation and alignment of the vertical PV modules. The LED luminaire, battery, MPPT controller and internal wiring are then integrated into the system, with attention to secure connections, cable routing, fastening and outdoor protection.
Testing Before Release: After assembly, the VS system is checked for solar charging, LED operation, controller response and programmed lighting modes. PV mounting, wiring connections, structural fastening and overall appearance are reviewed again before the finished components and accessories are transferred to the packaging stage.
Vertical Solar Smart Pole VS Series Cylindrical Module IoT Infrastructure Overview & Details
System Structure: The VS Series uses vertical solar PV modules integrated along the pole instead of a large top-mounted solar panel, combining solar generation, LED lighting, battery storage and MPPT control in one coordinated off-grid lighting system. The streamlined structure reduces frontal wind exposure and helps limit dust, sand and snow accumulation while maintaining a clean appearance for municipal and infrastructure projects.
Lighting & Solar Configuration: Standard VS configurations combine 20W–40W LED lighting with 144–240W vertical PV capacity. The LED power, solar capacity, battery storage and lighting schedule can be adjusted according to mounting height, road width, target lux, local solar irradiation and required nightly operating hours.
Energy Management & Outdoor Operation: MPPT charging and programmable time dimming help balance lighting performance with available solar energy. With the PV, battery and lighting load correctly matched, the system can be designed for approximately 5–7 cloudy or rainy days of backup. IP65 protection and a −25°C to +65°C operating range support outdoor use across different project environments.
Smart Control Options: Optional IoT, WiFi and CCTV functions can be integrated for smart-city, municipal and infrastructure projects requiring remote monitoring or additional connected devices. Additional loads are calculated together with the PV and battery configuration during project design. For projects where centralized IoT lighting management is the priority, compare the QH smart IoT solar street light.
Project Configuration: Rather than applying one fixed specification to every site, Sungreat Energy can configure the VS Series according to pole height, road layout, lighting requirements, local solar conditions and project environment, providing a more suitable system for municipal roads, coastal areas, resorts, industrial sites and EPC lighting projects.
Vertical Solar Smart Pole VS Series Cylindrical Module IoT Infrastructure Packaging & Delivery
Module Protection: Cylindrical PV modules, LED fixtures, controllers and smart accessories are protected separately with EPE cushioning, reinforced export cartons and internal separators to reduce scratches, connector damage and movement during long-distance transportation. Pole sections and brackets can be wrapped separately, with pallets, wooden cases and moisture-resistant protection arranged for LCL, FCL or long-distance sea shipments.
Project-Based Packing: For orders with different pole heights, PV capacities, IoT, CCTV or other customized configurations, packages can be labeled by model, road section or installation area. Accessories, cables, connectors and mounting hardware are packed by system set, helping EPC teams reduce mixed parts and onsite sorting time.
Delivery Schedule: Samples are normally prepared in about 3–7 days, while orders above 100 units generally require around 2–3 weeks depending on pole customization, cylindrical PV configuration and smart-function requirements. Large municipal projects are scheduled separately. Samples can be shipped by courier or air freight, while bulk projects are normally arranged by LCL or FCL sea freight. Packing lists, loading information and shipping documents are confirmed before dispatch.
FAQ of Vertical Solar Smart Pole VS Series Cylindrical Module IoT Infrastructure
The main advantage is the pole-integrated design. Instead of mounting one large flat panel above the light, the VS Series uses 144–240W cylindrical PV modules installed vertically around the pole. This reduces frontal wind exposure, limits dust, sand and snow buildup, and gives municipal roads, resorts and smart-city projects a cleaner appearance.
The wrap-around layout also reduces dependence on one fixed panel direction, while the PV capacity can be customized for different project loads. However, vertical modules do not automatically produce more energy than an optimally tilted flat panel; actual output depends on local solar irradiation, shading and system design.
For EPC projects, Sungreat Energy matches the vertical PV capacity, battery and lighting load according to the installation location and required operating time.
Yes. In many retrofit projects, the existing pole can be retained, but its dimensions and structural condition must be checked before installing the cylindrical solar modules.
The current VS standard configurations use 144W, 160W and 240W vertical PV modules, matched with approximately 3.5m, 4m and 6m mounting heights. Recommended pole spacing is approximately 10–15m, 15–20m and 20–25m depending on the selected configuration. Higher poles, wider roads or additional CCTV/IoT loads require customized PV and battery sizing.
For an existing-pole retrofit, please provide:
- Pole height and outside diameter
- Pole material and wall thickness
- Base plate or foundation details
- Photos of the existing pole and lamp arm
- Road width and required lighting level
- Local wind conditions
Sungreat Energy can then confirm the cylindrical module size and quantity, mounting brackets, PV capacity, battery position and internal wiring route. Keeping a suitable existing pole can reduce pole replacement, foundation work and road excavation, while converting the site into an independent solar lighting system.
The VS Series is designed for demanding outdoor environments where conventional top-mounted solar panels may face greater wind exposure, dust accumulation or installation constraints. Its 360° vertical PV modules are integrated around the pole, reducing the large frontal area created by a traditional flat solar panel while also helping limit the buildup of dust, sand and snow on the PV surface.
For outdoor operation, the VS Series provides IP65 protection and an operating temperature range of −25°C to +65°C. Standard 144W, 160W and 240W vertical PV configurations use MPPT charging and can be designed for approximately 5–7 cloudy or rainy days of backup when the PV capacity, battery storage and lighting program are correctly matched.
For desert, coastal or high-wind projects, the final system should still be configured according to the actual site conditions. Pole structure, surface treatment, foundation design, PV capacity, battery storage and lighting schedule can be adjusted according to the installation environment.
For EPC and municipal projects, customers can provide the installation location, pole height, road width, required lighting level, local wind conditions and other site information. Sungreat Energy can then evaluate the project and recommend a more suitable VS configuration instead of applying one standard specification to every location.
The VS Series can be configured to support approximately 5–7 consecutive cloudy or rainy days when the solar PV capacity, battery storage, LED load and lighting program are correctly matched to the project.
The lighting schedule is programmable rather than fixed. For example, one 12-hour energy-saving program can be set as:
100% brightness for 0.5 hour
80% brightness for 2.5 hours
50% brightness for 2 hours
20% brightness for 7 hours
For projects requiring higher brightness during the early evening, another program could be configured as:
100% brightness for 1 hour
70% brightness for 3 hours
30% brightness for 8 hours
These are reference operating modes, not fixed settings for every VS project. Sungreat Energy can optimize the dimming schedule, PV capacity and battery configuration according to local Peak Sun Hours, road type, traffic pattern, required lighting hours, target brightness and backup-day requirements.
For EPC and municipal projects, we can evaluate the actual site conditions and provide a suitable lighting and energy-storage configuration rather than applying one standard operating schedule to every project.
The right VS Series configuration depends on the road layout, lighting requirement, operating hours and local solar conditions—not LED wattage alone.
Standard Configuration Reference: 20W LED + 144W PV is typically matched with about 3.5m mounting height and 10–15m spacing; 30W LED + 160W PV with about 4m height and 15–20m spacing; and 40W LED + 240W PV with about 6m height and 20–25m spacing. The system uses MPPT control and supports approximately 5–7 cloudy or rainy days of backup.
For EPC and Municipal Projects: Provide the road width, pole height, pole spacing, single- or double-side layout, target lux and uniformity, nightly operating hours or dimming schedule, local solar conditions and required backup days.
Based on these project conditions, Sungreat Energy can match the LED output, cylindrical PV capacity, battery capacity and control strategy. IES-based DIALux lighting calculations can also be used to verify the final pole layout and lighting performance when required.
The VS Series uses a modular installation structure designed for easier transportation, site assembly and future maintenance.
On-Site Installation: Cylindrical PV modules are positioned and fixed around the pole, followed by cable connection, LED fixture installation and system commissioning. Waterproof connectors and clearly matched components help simplify field wiring and assembly.
EPC Project Support: Sungreat Energy can provide product datasheets, installation instructions, packing lists, system configuration information and available IES files or DIALux lighting calculations according to project requirements. For customized municipal or tender projects, pole dimensions, PV capacity, battery capacity, control functions and accessories can be confirmed before production.
