In the solar street lighting industry, customers often face a common concern: suppliers confidently offer 3-year or 5-year warranties when securing an order, but when issues arise after delivery, obtaining meaningful support can be a challenge. Delayed responses, unclear responsibilities, and unresolved field problems can leave customers frustrated and projects at risk.
At Sungreat Energy, we believe a warranty is only as valuable as the service behind it. Our commitment to customers extends far beyond product delivery. A clear example of this commitment took place in 2024 during a major solar street lighting project in the Philippines.
1. The Execute Project
In 2024, Sungreat Energy supplied 740 sets of All-in-One Solar Street Lights to a valued customer in the Philippines. The project was designed to improve public infrastructure and provide reliable, sustainable lighting for local communities.
The installation was successfully completed, and the vast majority of the system performed as expected under real-world operating conditions.
2. Facing Challenges
Several months after installation, a small number of units—approximately 20 out of 740 sets—showed reduced performance under the Philippines’ hot and humid tropical conditions. Although this represented less than 3% of the total project, we immediately treated the matter as a priority and launched a detailed investigation to identify the root cause and implement a permanent solution.
3. Our Quick Response
Demonstrating our commitment to customer satisfaction, our Sales Director and Senior Engineer personally traveled to the Philippines to meet the customer and inspect the project on-site.
Working closely with the customer’s technical team, we conducted a comprehensive investigation, including field inspections, performance testing, and root cause analysis. Through this process, we identified that the issue was related to the battery’s thermal management. While the original design performed well under standard conditions, the extreme heat and humidity of the local environment created challenges that required further optimization.
Rather than offering temporary fixes, we focused on developing a long-term engineering solution.
4. Providing Solution
After identifying the root cause, our engineering team immediately began developing a corrective solution. Through extensive analysis and testing, we determined that reducing heat transfer from the lamp housing to the battery pack would significantly improve battery performance in high-temperature environments.
To address this, we redesigned the battery installation structure by adding a layer of heat-insulating foam between the battery pack and the housing of the solar street light. This enhancement helped minimize heat transfer, improve thermal management, and provide better protection for the battery during prolonged exposure to tropical temperatures.
The upgraded design underwent rigorous testing before being approved for production. We then manufactured replacement battery packs, shipped them from China to the Philippines at our own expense, and coordinated closely with the customer to replace all affected units as quickly as possible.
Throughout the process, we maintained transparent communication with the customer and provided continuous technical support to ensure minimal disruption to the project.
5. The Outcome
The corrective measures successfully resolved the issue, and the upgraded batteries have since demonstrated reliable performance under the challenging climatic conditions of the Philippines.
The customer was highly satisfied with our professional, transparent, and proactive approach. More importantly, the project continued to operate successfully, reinforcing the reliability of both the solution and the partnership behind it.
This experience also provided valuable field data that enabled us to further improve our product design for tropical and high-temperature environments, benefiting future projects worldwide.
6. Our Quality and Service
This project reinforced a core principle at Sungreat Energy: delivering a solar product is only the beginning of a long-term partnership.
When challenges arise, our responsibility does not end with the warranty certificate. We believe true after-sales service means responding quickly, identifying root causes, implementing effective solutions, and continuously improving our products based on real-world operating conditions.
The lessons learned from this project have been incorporated into our product design, helping us deliver even more reliable solar lighting solutions for customers in tropical and high-temperature environments around the world.
At Sungreat Energy, a warranty is not just a promise on paper—it is a commitment backed by action.
